Lives and works in Montreal (Canada)
A media artist, photographer and filmmaker, Dominique T Skoltz alternates between creating works on commission and free creation. Her polymorphous work carries an immediately discernable signature. Whatever her avatar, her lively and sensitive gaze turns on the invisible and highlights the intersections between hyper-control and complete breakdowns. Between the intimate and the clinical. She has created numerous installations, performances and films that delve into the organic relationship between sound and image. Her artworks, which often fall in-between genres, have been presented on the international media arts circuit in Asia, Europe, North America and South America. Recent exhibitions and projects include presentation in over more than eighty international festivals, events and museums; including ISEA, the Venice Biennale and Transart. Over the years, many of her works have been recognized by prestigious competitions and become part of collections of established institutions. Skoltz’s work continues to manipulate organic matter as readily as digital matter. She practices a form of mutant cinema that simultaneously occupies multiple territories. Her synergistic practice questions the elasticity of time and fiddles with perception.
